BOW TIP REPAIR
This German factory cello bow was dropped and the delicate bone tip shattered.
We decided a new tip was the best avenue to restore this fine bow to it's former
splendor.
After thinning and bending the bone, it is glued in place.
This is a fun repair on a student bow as it allows for the artistic freedom to shape the very tip
(the original tip was not well done and lacked any character).
Pulling from the many auction archives of Skinner, Tarisio and Sotheby's we were
able to find the inspiration from past masters to restore this bow and enhance the aesthetics.
A light sand and a thorough French polish and the bow now looks
as if it cost thousands!
